Candelaria Eco Lodge, Community Tourism, Buena Vista, Bolivia
The Candelaria Eco Lodge is owned and run by the Candelaria community located just 5km from the main square of the picturesque village of Buenavista mission.
Set in beautifully landscaped gardens and surrounded by tropical rainforest, the lodge consists of basic thatched cottages that have been built using ecologically friendly construction techniques and local materials.
There are five cabins with four beds in each cabin, private bathrooms and ceiling fans. An on-site restaurant provides local dishes for guests and even visitors with prior notice. There is also a rainforest observation deck and many gardens and green spaces for visitors to relax in and enjoy the beautiful natural surrounds of Amboro National Park.
Candelaria Community members run activities for guests to enjoy interacting with the local environment. This includes birdwatching, observing local flora and fauna of the region, as well as guided tours through the eco trail community.
Guests can also take part in workshops run by the skilled hands of artisans Jipi Tacuara Japa. Here you will learn new construction techniques and handcraft small items of furniture and handicrafts using bamboo and other local materials whilst being taught how to maintain ecological practices.
Cabins with private bathroom, ceiling fan, electricity, tap water, towels and sheets, restaurant, parking lot, observation deck, eco walking trails, guided hikes and handicrafts workshops.
If you do not have own vehicle there is a taxi service - private or shared - between Santa Cruz and Buenavista. In Santa Cruz it operates from the former bus terminal in Santa Cruz and in Buenavista from the main plaza. There are also local taxis waiting in the main plaza of Buena Vista to transport you to the Candelaria Eco Lodge.
