Does anyone know of any reccomended tours for the one day salt flats? I have been quoted $33 by one. Are there any other around this price? Thanks!

Hi,
right now - 24.2.2019 - I am at the border to Bolivia and thinking about going to Salar de Uyuni. I was there in 2014, now I’d like to see the mirror ;-). How is the situation at the moment? I would do a one day trip from Uyuni, otherwise I would go straight to Sucre. Anybody out there?
Best,
Chris

Hello.
Is it possible to rent a bike in Copacabana to see the surrounding countryside, or is that a too ambitious project for someone who should have retired long ago?

Do I need to book buses from Uyuni-La Paz and Copacabana to Cusco far in advance or can I just book when I am in town a day or two before departure?

I don't particulally want to book online because of the high admin fee.

Thanks!

Hi everyone,
Next July we will travel with five people from San Pedro de Atacama to Uyuni crossing the salt flats. What can we expect to pay for this trip and do we need to make a reservation in advance?
Thanks for responding.
Best regards,
Han

Has anyone recently done a tour from San Pedro de Atacama (Chile) to Salar de Uyuni (Bolivia)?

Are the tours going? Any obstacles?

I am asking because of the recent heavy rains and flooding in the area.

Also, any recommendation for tour agencies (ones that have well maintained jeeps, don't crowd their jeeps too much, and have decent accommodation)?

Finally, is proof of Yellow Fever vaccination required for this tour?

Hi all!

My friends and I are planning a 2 / 2.5 week long trip to Bolivia in October 2019.

We're at the early stages of planning the trip and wanted to check with the LP community if there is anything we should absolutely not be missing!

We've got as far as working out we want to do the following:
- La Paz - 2-3 days
- Salar de Uyuni - 3-4 days
- Bolivian rainforest (although still assessing what part) - 2-4 days

What else should we not...

Hello,

I'm currently in Uyuni, Bolivia and waiting for the weather the to get better and then start the 3 day 2 night Salar de Uyuni tour. I'm a passionate photographer and for me, photographing at sunset and sunrise is really important. Also I would like to take photographs of the night sky in the salt flats.

So does anyone know a tour company that includes sunset/sunrise and stargazing in the 3d 2n tour?

I've only found separate tours that do "...

I am arriving La Paz airport (LPB) at 3AM. Is the customs officer on work at that time? I heard someone even need to do money exchange to pay for the VISA on arrival fee. But 3AM is too early for the money changers to run their service.

Does anyone have the similar experience to do VISA on arrival during the nights in LPB?

Hi All,
My husband and I are have one week in Bolivia at the beginning of February with 4 days to explore La Paz and surrounding area. We'd like to visit Lake Titicaca for sure and other places if nearby and possible.
Any recommendations for a route, places to stay? We are renting a car from Europcar: Hyundai Accent sedan "or similar". Is that type of car good enough to manage the roads around La Paz and Lake Titicaca?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hello all

I am starting a trip through South America in August 2019, and so far my plans are to stay in Colombia for one month, and then travel Ecuador and Peru through the months of September and October.

However I am apprehensive about arriving in Bolivia in November as I have heard travel can be difficult and the salt flats aren't great to visit in November. Is this correct or am I just over thinking and Bolivia will be perfectly fine in November?

I will be going to Uyuni from Chile soon. Can you easily change Chilean Pesos and USD in Uyuni? Or do any of the ATMs work? Thanks!

Hello! We are currently planning out where to head to in a Bolivia (in isla del sol atm) and we had hoped to head up to Rurrenabaque to explore the jungle but from what we’ve read online and in books it’s just pretty miserable in January with the mud, mosquitoes and lack of wildlife.
It’s obviously very expensive to fly up there so we want to do it only if fellow travelers can shed light on if it’s just not going to be great.
We’ve been in Costa Rica’s jungle and will be heading to...

Hi guys,

I am considering doing a group tour around Bolivia, which starts in La Paz, continues to Uyuni after a couple of days in La Paz, then continues to Potosi after doing a tour around Salar de Uyuni, before going to Sucre and then finishing in La Paz. I'm considering adding on a couple of days before the tour starts, so I would have around 3 or 4 days total in La Paz to acclimatize. I was also thinking about staying in the area that is lowest in La Paz the first couple of...
