Hi all,

I want to climb a few mountains in August 2019, the first two weeks is when I'll be there. I'm hoping to share a trip to sajama national park, let me know if you are interested in joining.

Can anyone recommend guide services operating out of La Paz that might do the Yunga Cruz Trek for less than 300 USD? From what I saw in Southern Peru a few years ago it's likely to be as much as 50% less expense in the country itself as the prices listed by guide services on the internet. I'm not trying to be stingy here, but, after all, it is I believe a roughly 38 mile/5-day trek and in the US I am very much considered to be a poor person.

Also has this trek...

Has anyone climbed Chachacomani? If so, can you share some insights? How technical is it? How exposed is the Ruta Normal?

Hi all,
I’m just wondering if anyone has been to la Paz lately and tried doing one of the prison tours that the prisoners used to run.
I can’t find anywhere online saying f it’s possible to do them anymore.
I know they aren’t officially allowed but I would be very interested in doing one.

Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.

How easy is it to find accommodation on arrival to Challapampa in the beginning of July?
At the moment there is only one place in Challapampa available on so if it is easy to find accommodation on arrival I will wait.

I plan to take the boat from Copacabana to Challapampa, see the sites on the north side of Isla del Sol and stay the night in Challapampa. The next day I plan to hike to the south side of the island, see the sights there and stay the night in Yumani (I...

Ola :) I’m planning a month traveling solo in Bolivia and Peru in October – November.
My interests are nature, trekking, mountains, scenery, wild places, out of the beaten path, wildlife, authentic experiences, culture and connecting / meeting with local people. I’m not so keen on cities or big towns or touristy places. I am not after luxury or comfort, I travel with a backpack and stay in hostels or with local people. I don't speak Spanish (only French and English), but am trying...

Hi all :)
I am planning a solo trip in Bolivia at the end of May. I drafted an itinerary but would like to have opinions/suggestions! I decided to travel only the altiplano because time is simply not enough to see everything :(
I have been to Peru and in Ladakh and never suffered from altitude sickness so far. Of course you never know...
My flight is to Santa Cruz de la Sierra and my idea was to catch an internal flight to Sucre as soon as I arrive (question: can I do it at...

I am organising a big trekking trip, and would like to know what the law is on access to protected or indigenous areas. For example, will I legally need to use a guide to pass through certain parks?
I would also like to know the average price to hire a local guide per day in more remote areas of Bolivia.
Thanks in advance!

Hi, I am going to Bolivia in June, and have my flight to Rurrenabaque already booked. I have a week there, and out of that I want to go on a 4 night/5 day combined jungle and pampas tour. A lot of people are saying it is much cheaper to buy a tour there, based on international agents charging a lot online. However, I have found a local tour with Indigena and it seems a very fair price to me at $410 for the 4 nt/5 day tour jungle and pampas. Does anyone know if it would be massively...

Hi all,

Just ridden across the Peru / Bolivian border and in Copacabana / Lake Titicaca.

Probably 2 days riding away from LP.

Is it possible to load bikes on the Gondola system in to and out of La Paz??
Fully loaded bikes ie 4 Panniers and 2 large dry bags.

Thanks if you can help me out.

We are going to Bolivia for a rather rushed 10 night trip.

We are doing
2 nights La Paz
2 nights Lake Titicaca
2 nights Sucre

The other 4 nights we want to explore one of the National Parks. We have done a lot of research on Madidi National Park and the Amazon, but I was hoping to get some views/recommendations on Amboro National Park as an alternative.

Any advice would be most helpful.

Hi. Im in Sucre and in a couple of weeks will be heading through to San Pedro Atacama and then on to Arica.
Id like to take a three day tour of the salt flats (having done a one day tour some years ago). Could anyone recommend a recently-used, tried and trusted tour company I could contact? This trip, I could possibly afford a little more in the way of comfort, so reliability is my main concern.
Thanks, David

Hello the travelling community!

My partner and I are travelling through Peru / Bolivia in April 2019 and we are actively looking for two fellow travelers to spend a 4D3N 4WD trip with us starting from Uyuni and ending in San Pedro de Atacama.

The idea is to share the cost of the trip as well as spending some good time together through this wonder! Total cost for the trip is $USD 980 all inclusive with Tupiza tours who are highly recommended by the travelling community!

I am in Sucre at the moment and can’t seem to find much information about Samaipata from my fellow travelers. I plan to spend about one more month in South America to explore the area around La Paz and Peru. My question is if Samaipata is worth the travel time to visit, considering the other areas I’d like to see in the next month. The reviews of the ruins there don’t seem to be that epic and I’ll be visiting Machu Pichu. Can anyone tell me if the condor tour, waterfalls, or...

My partner and I will travel to South America for 9 weeks this fall. Of the 9 weeks we would like to spend 4-5 weeks in Bolivia (rest in Argentina and Chile). We will cross the border from Salta (Jujuy), Argentina so the first stop will be Tupiza and around. But what is next? Altogether we want to visit Uyuni (only one day tour to the salt flat), Potosi, Sucre, Sajama NP (hike volcan Sajama), Santa Cruz, Amboro NP, if its possible Noel Kempff Mercado NP, do the El Choro trek or/and Takesi...

Hi there,

I will be travelling with my girlfriend in August for 3 weeks in Bolivia / Peru.

Few questions:
Is summer the good period to travel? Is there any areas to skip because of the poor conditions?
What are the highlights of this trip (and maybe a preferred itinerary)?
Do you know if this is possible to rent a car in the region ? Pick up in one place, leave in another one?

Thanks a lot
