My wife and I arrive in La Paz June 29, will spend the rest of the day around the city, and are looking to do the following (tell me if it's reasonable). Salar de Uyuni, Lake Titicaca, Amazon Forest. Does anybody know if this is realistic in 9 days? We are thinking about a custom tour from Banjo Tours. Does anybody know any other companies that run decent tours that either (a) takes in these places in one longer tour, or (b) runs three tours we can hop on consecutively to maximize our...

Hi,
Can someone please confirm that it's possible for an Australian to get a visa on arrival (land crossing from Peru) and if there is a cost.
Thankyou

Hello,

We (2persons) will be doing the Salt Flats Tour from Monday to Wednesday and plan on travelling straight to Potosi upon getting back in Uyuni in the evening.

Any other travellers/couple who want to share a taxi at that time?

Kind regards,
Pieter

Hi,

I am from the UK and am hoping to visit Cochabamba in the Summer, during which time I will be volunteering with an NGO. This will be my first time in South America. I have had a look online and could not find much safety advice specifically concerning Cochabamba so was just wondering if anyone on here had any experience/knowledge they might be able to share.

Many thanks,

Hi, Friends!

I am living in Santa Cruz for a month and wanted to see if there are any adventurers out here that would like to meet up? I am trying to plan a trip to Uyuni as well.

Hope to chat soon!

Flying from Miami, Florida to Bolivia, I have 5 days in late June and I wish to visit the Salt Flats. What is the closest city one would recommend I travel to? Should I fly Miami – La Paz and then take a commuter flight to ____ where in Bolivia that would bring me closest to the Salt Flats? I appreciate any and all tips. I’m just starting my research. Thanks.

We want to do this trip on Aug 5, 2017.
Reports about the overnight bus are not good and the only other alternate I've found is flying to La Paz then to Sucre but the only flights I can find have a 4 hour layover between them
Does anyone know a better and alternate way or a driver in Uyuni who would take us for a reasonable amount?

Any suggestion?
Thanks

I plan to go from La Paz to Laguna Tuni, and stay the night there.
Has anyone been there without a tour? Are there local houses or huts that accept guests?

Thanks

hi everyone, where is the best place in santa cruz (names, locations, etc..) to pickup a tent (suitable for rain/humidity) + a sleeping bag (for use in Bolivia, around 1500m elevation) and for year round use. I intend to live in the tent in the nature. Thanks

Posting in Peru forum as well.
We have three weeks, starting the end of December, to spend in Peru and Bolivia (and a day or two in Santiago) and are trying to work out an itinerary that is not too rushed. We fly into Lima and out of Santiago and at this early stage are thinking we will fly straight from Lima to Cuzco and spend about a week in the area, including the Sacred Valley. We enjoy walking, history, and culture, and there seems to be plenty to do here, although weather may be...

Hi all,

I have 3 weeks off in May to go backpacking!

I am currently torn between trekking in Bolivia and hiking/scuba diving in the Honduras Islands/Costa Rica.

So - I'm leaning towards Bolivia at the moment - the current plan is to fly into Cusco, spend some time acclimatizing making my way overland by bus to La Paz.

I have traveled by bus from Cusco to La paz before but just wondered if this was better than flying directly into La Paz? I'm concerned...

I'm planning a photography trip to Bolivia and Peru in May and am looking for a Salt Flats tour which involves a night spent on, or right on the edge of, the salt flat, in order to photograph the sunset, sunrise and Milky Way over the flats.

Does anyone know any tour operators who do this, or who can offer it? I know there are the ridiculously expensive Airstream cabins, but also know that you can camp on some of the islands within the lake, or on the salt flat itself....

What is the ATM withdrawal limit in Bolivianos per transaction? Do some banks have a higher withdrawal limit than others or do they all stop at the same amount limit? In general, is it as easy and safe to use them them in Bolivia as it is in Perú?

English version below!

Hallo liebe Reisende,

I enjoy visiting large crowded colorful markets, bonus points for local dress. E.g. something like Guamote in Ecuador.

What is my best bet in Bolivia? Tarabuco? El Alto in La Paz? La Cancha in Cochabamamba? I am crossing from Chile to Brazil, Cochabamaba and especially La Paz would be a detour. Worth it?

Thanks!
