Planning a trip to Bolivia in October 2020. I want to do a jungle lodge. Chalalan or Sadiri are my options.

I would rather do Chalalan. However I think I can use my Cpap machine at Sadiri wheras at Chalalan that might be tough. According to them.

Does anyone know about these lodges? Is chalalan so superior that I should be willing to go through 3 Poor sleep nights? I have moderate sleep apnea. If I had severe this would not even be a question.

I am a solo traveler and want to visit the salt flats for a 3 night 4 day tour. Is it easy to just join in on another group?

1 month trip.. Peru/Bolivia. Would like to do a jungle lodge. Most interested in Chalalan in Madidi in Bolivia. However I have a moderate sleep apnea and require a cpap machine.

I am unable to use a CPAP at chalalan.

Do you know of any jungle lodge in Bolivia or peru or possibly outside of those countries where I could use a CPAP?

Other question are there jungle excursions that can be done as a day trip so I can back to hotel or hostel and use my cpap?

Any recommendations on an excellent 3 day salt flat tour that is recent? Speaking of Bolivia. Also how cold is sleeping? I only have a 55 degree bag and a little warm gear.

Hi All,
This gets posted every now and then, but currently the US consulates are saying that Americans should get their visas in advance of arrival in Bolivia. I have a feeling that is just official policy to be cautious, but in reality it is still possible to get visa on arrival. Has anyone reading this gotten a Bolivian visa in the past few weeks?

We are staying at Hotel Cortez in Santa Cruz the end of July. Due to flight schedule changes, we are now arriving much earlier than expected (1:44 am). We have a meeting at 5 pm that day at the hotel. We will be 11 women and 1 man--most with little to no Spanish and little experience traveling abroad. Range in age from 19 to 62.

  1. Besides catching up with some sleep, and hanging by the pool, any suggestions for safe sightseeing for a few hours?

I am flying into la paz next week and plan to spend a few days there then work my way up, via lake titicaca, to cuzco where I will be volunteering. Most of the trip is set, but being that I am a yong woman traveling alone was wondering whether my plan of visiting Val de Luna and Tihuanaco independantly (without a tour) is a good idea. My concern stems from the possibility of being out on a trail without much foot traffic/that's out of view from anyone else... I assume this...

It is an extremely long shot but I have arranged a guide to climb the Huayna Potosi in two days, from tomorrow wednesday the 15th on.
If there is anyone interested to team up, that would cut the cost of the guide and transportation in half.
If interested, please send me a pm on as soon as possible as we will have to make arrangements to get the proper gear and so on, or...

We’re planning a trip to Bolivia and Peru for august- september. We would do cusco, machu pisshu, arequipa, titicaca lake, la paz and salar uyuni.
The tickets are a lot cheaper for us if we would fly in in bolivia and fly out in Peru. So start with uyuni and end our trip with machu picchu.
But really all the itinerarys that I red, go from Peru to Bolivia. I was wondering if there is a reason for it. Mayby it has to do something with the altitude? Does anyone has...

Is 2000 USD enough for eight weeks of budget travel in Bolivia?

I'd like to get a good look at La Paz, Cochabamba, Sucre and Potosi.

One complication, which might shorten my journey a bit, is that I might want to do a guided trek.

Can anyone recommend guide services operating out of La Paz that might do the Yunga Cruz Trek for less than 300 USD? From what I saw in Southern Peru a few years ago it's likely to be as much as 50% less expense in the country itself as the prices listed by guide services on the internet. I'm not trying to be stingy here, but, after all, it is I believe a roughly 38 mile/5-day trek and in the US I am very much considered to be a poor person.

Also has this trek...

Has anyone climbed Chachacomani? If so, can you share some insights? How technical is it? How exposed is the Ruta Normal?

We'd like to hire a driver to go from La Paz to Copacabana. We'd stay 2 days at the lake and need a driver for the retur trip. Does anyone have recommendations.
