Museum of indigenous art - ASUR

The ASUR museum is definetly one of the best museums in town. Here you learn everything about the indigenous culture of the regions Chuquisaca and Potosí.
Through its Weaver´s Gallery, the Museum offers a unique opportunity for visitors to observe indigenous artists demonstrating the weaving process. It contains a beautiful collection of traditional textiles from the Jalq´a and Tarabuco regions of Chuquisaca and from Calcha and Tinkipaya communities located in de Department of Potosí. The music rooms exhibit traditional dance costumes, music instruments, recordings and videos.

Furthermore there is the sales room that offers unique items, produced by the indigenous artisans, whose quality is equal or superior to that of those exhibited in the Museum. By buying an item here you directly benefit the weavers as ASUR is a non-profit organization.
